The liver is an amazing organ, with over 500 important functions, but like an elastic band it can only be stretched so far before it breaks; before the damage may be irreversible.
There are many types of liver condition, including genetic, autoimmune and lifestyle-related, and an estimated one in five of us are at risk of developing liver disease. Symptoms can be difficult to spot in the early stages and three quarters of people with advanced cirrhosis are diagnosed as an emergency in hospital.
Thanks to supporters like you, we can make a difference to the lives of everyone affected. Together, we can transform outcomes for patients and loved ones through our campaigns for early diagnosis, better care and treatment.
One of the major lifestyle factors that can affect your liver is poor diet and exercise; what better excuse do you need to trek not only for patients, but for your own liver health!
